Heather Graham was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to a family of Irish descent.Her family relocated repeatedly until settling down in Agoura Hills, California when she was nine years old. The eldest of two children, her younger sister, Aimee Graham, is also an actress and writer. Their mother, Joan, is a teacher and noted author of children's books, and father, James Graham, a retired FBI agent.The girls were raised with family values that followed a strict traditional Catholic upbringing.Graham graduated from Agoura High School in California in 1988. In 1986, she appeared on a special "Teen Week" episode of the NBC-TV game show Scrabble.

Meester was born while her mother was serving a federal prison sentence in Fort Worth, Texas.Although her mother, Constance, was serving time in prison for her involvement in a drug ring that smuggled marijuana from Jamaica to the United States, she was able to give birth to Meester in a hospital and nurse her for three months in a halfway house before returning to prison to complete her sentence.

Jessica Stroup was born in Anderson, South Carolina. She spent her childhood in Charlotte, North Carolina. A friend's mother was a former Miss North Carolina and encouraged Jessica to pursue modeling. She has an older brother, David Stroup. She graduated from Providence High School in 2004. At age 17 Stroup was offered a scholarship to attend the University of Georgia, but turned it down in order to pursue an acting career. She then moved to Los Angeles, California, where she currently resides.

Stroup began modeling when she was 15 and acting when she was 18. Her first acting job was as a guest star on Nickelodeon's popular teen series Unfabulous. Stroup was originally going to play Zoe in I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
